Sichuan facing heaven chillies, or dried round chillies, are a medium-hot, fragrant chilli pepper with a thin skin and citrus notes.

This huge bag of Sichuan round dried chillies is a pantry-staple when it comes to Sichuanese cooking, and are often fried whole in oil at the start of recipes. Sichuan facing heaven chillies are also delicious in piquant pickles, or used to infuse chilli oil.

The facing heaven chilli is chosen above the Sichuan long dried chilli for stir-fried dishes as it is slightly larger so adds volume to dishes. Whereas the hotter Sichuan long dried chillii is used in hot pots.
